In Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), patients have significantly lower serum total carnitine, free carnitine & acylcarnitine levels
Four or more of the symptoms that persist or recur during 6 or more consecutive months of illness
- Self-reported impairment in short-term memory or concentration
- Sore throat
- Tender cervical or axillary nodes
- Muscle pain
- Multi-joint pain without redness or swelling
- Headaches of a new pattern or severity
- Unrefreshing sleep
- Post-exertional malaise lasting > 24h

Sperm Dysfunction leading to Male Infertility
- L-carnitine administered orally at a dose of 3 glday for 4 months, showed an improvement in progressive and total sperm motility and an increase in sperm concentration
- In idiopathic asthenozoospermia, L-carnitine treatment 3 g/day had a significant improvement in sperm motility in 80% of patients.
- Significant improvement in pregnancy rate, total sperm motility, forward sperm motility and atypical sperm cells was concluded in 9 meta-analysis
- L-carnitine which is known to improve semen's parameters, has recently been recognized as the most effective medication for male infertility
